Maryland State Senate Bill 166:Textbook Fairness Act
SB166:
The Maryland State Senate is currently considering a bill, Senate Bill 166: Textbook Fairness Act (based on last year's SB214). This bill, with amendments, will require all of Maryland's higher education schools to release the ISBN (number that universally identifies the book), title, author, edition, publisher, and publication date of every required textbook and in a timely fashion to the students. In addition each textbook will note if an older edition can be substituted and if any packaged material included is required or optional.
Basically the information mandated in Senate Bill 166 will allow students to competitively shop buying textbooks at the best price. It's estimated it'll save Maryland students $61 million dollars a year.
